Three films dedicated to all brave mothers

Rak Haeng Siam (The Love of Siam, Thailand, 2007)

Mario Maurer plays Sinjai Plengpanich’s troubled son in The Love of Siam.

Her daughter went on a hiking trip and never returned. Her son is going through the nervous melancholy of adolescence, and he might also be gay. Raising children is a joy and a burden, and in this Thai teen drama, the mother, played by Sinjai Plengpanich, carries both sentiments and braves through the unpredictability of life with calm grit. The film largely concerns Tong (Mario Maurer), a teenager who's going through an important phase, but it's Sinjai's performance as his mother that makes The Love of Siam perfect Mother's Day viewing. Every mother is a working mother _ it rings so true here. Available on DVD.
