The English-language adaptation of the Swedish original, this captivating movie might keep viewers as hooked as seeing a sexy girl with a dragon tattoo peeking out from her thong. Based on the late Stieg Larsson's bestselling Millennium crime novel trilogy, this first instalment centres on Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara), who is a professional hacker/personal investigator. Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig) is a disgraced journalist who teams up with her to solve the case of a woman who disappeared 40 years ago. The mystery is brutal and chilling, but the haunting visuals are mesmerising. If you aren't familiar with the series, we recommend watching this for some grisly fun. But if you've seen the original movie, this is just as good, with the bonus of not having to read subtitles. Directed by David Fincher.
