The Charlatans aren't quacks. They are as genuine, as polite as it gets. The band's ongoing love affair with music and the fans over the past 20 years is the best compliment a musician can earn.
Tim Burgess (vocals), Mark Collins (guitar), Martin Blunt (bass) and Tony Rogers (keyboards) made a short visit to Bangkok on Friday for an intimate concert. For a band who has lived through the Baggy, Madchester and Britpop heydays fuelled with the best (or worst) kinds of rock debauchery, The Charlatans have managed to stay afloat, looking well and healthy with a mild manner to match.
As per tradition, frontman Burgess took to answering most of the questions with his surprisingly youthful look that includes a John Lennon haircut and Harry Potter specs. A "Fac 33" tattoo in homage to New Order and Joy Division glares from his chest as an ever-present reminder that The Charlatans have descended from Manchester's greats and have spawned many more.
