Malay dance H Gallery, Sathon Soi 12 Saturday at 4pm
- An expert in Malay dance and history, Dr Zulkifli bin Mohamad, returns to Bangkok for a special performance inspired by the photographic exhibition by Xavier Comas, "House of The Raja". Zulkifli will perform authentic Pattani dances as an offering for that troubled region. This unique cultural moment captures the intangible heritage of Pattani and its distinct but fading traditions from the primordial civilisation of Langkasuka. Comas' images moved Zulkifli with their sense of lost history and eternal spirit from the era of the Rajas, when the ancient kingdom of Pattani was divided between Siam and the Malay colony of the British Empire in 1909. Zulkifli comes from Kota Bharu in Kelantan - a Malaysian province across the international border - which shares the Malay culture of Pattani.
