On her debut album, budding British songstress Birdy puts her own adorable twee take on beloved indie hits

You would think that a cover album from someone named Birdy would be filled with Michael Jackson's bossa nova-fied back catalogue. Instead (and a huge relief, too), the 15-year-old Hampshire native chose to tackle indie hits from the likes of Bon Iver, Phoenix and the National. Born Jasmine van den Bogaerde, Birdy became an overnight sensation when she released a cover of Bon Iver's highly revered Skinny Love early last year. The song peaked at No17 in the UK singles chart _ not too shabby for a no-name artist covering an indie number.
