Snow patrol's latest release stirs up a creative storm

The Irish alt rockers embrace change on their sixth studio album, 'Fallen Empires', while still managing to satisfy their ballad-craving fans

It would be tough to come up with anything that has the emotional impact of Chasing Cars, Snow Patrol's seminal ballad that has been featured in countless movies and TV series over the past few years (the most memorable being the US hospital drama, Grey's Anatomy. And yes, we're not ashamed to admit that we did cry our eyes out during that episode.) After their compilation album in 2009, the Irish rock quintet return with Fallen Empires, the band's sixth album, which boasts a slight shift in musical direction and an impressive selection of tear-jerking slow jams the band has come to be synonymous with.
