Philippe Cousteau Jr is determined to continue his father's and grandfather's legacies of oceanography and conservation

His grandfather, Jacques-Yves, is probably the most famous ocean explorer and conservationist of all time. His father Philippe, the main heir to the family's environmentalist causes, died on a flying boat expedition in Portugal before he was born. Now the California-born Philippe Cousteau Jr, 31, is expanding the family legacy to put the spotlight on pressing environmental issues for Going Green, a regular programme on CNN.

In an exclusive interview with Brunch, Cousteau talked about some of his concerns for our fragile planet, the challenges of hosting a news programme on environmental issues and his family legacy.

"I think of it as a positive responsibility," says Cousteau of his high-profile name. "I am proud of my heritage but also love my job and wouldn't want to do anything else."
