Her voice will live on

It was a great loss to the Thai entertainment industry yesterday, as national artist Churee Osiri died of natural causes in Chiang Rai province at the age of 83.

Born on Nov 2, 1930, Churee, intimately known among her fans as "Pa Ju", grew up amidst the sounds of music as her father was the owner of a vinyl recording company. Her artistic side shined since a young age, and after graduating from high school, Churee entered showbiz as a singer for theatre plays, before eventually joining the famous Suntharaporn band.

Throughout her career, Churee has continued to master all aspects of her entertainment skills, from singing to acting, but it was her voice talent that gained her huge fame and numerous awards. Churee and her husband Sa-ner Komarachun had a son together named Noppon Komarachun, who grew up to become an unabashed actor and director. After her husband's death, Churee lived with actor and life-partner Somchai Samibhak. Then in 2008, Somchai passed away at 82.
