Yeah, considering that most of its rivals have already gone hybrid like the Audi A6 Hybrid, BMW 5 ActiveHybrid and Lexus GS450h (and Infiniti M35h in world markets).
But the Mercedes-Benz E-class's hybrid concept is different from the rest by combining a diesel-electric combination instead of its competitors' petrol-electric combo. The so-called E300 Hybrid blends the ubiquitous 204hp/500Nm 2.1-litre diesel-turbo engine with a 27hp/250Nm brushless electric motor backed up by lithium batteries.
Mercedes-Benz claims a 240kph top speed, 7.5sec 0-100kph time and a class-leading 24.4kpl economy for the E300 Hybrid, which is 15% more efficient than the E250 CDI currently on sale.
