That appears to be the case. It's not a new policy, though, whereby one model is available for the whole globe.
In fact, Ford once employed such a strategy with the first-generation Mondeo in the 1990s, although it wasn't clearly a success. Rivals like Honda and Toyota do otherwise with slightly different bodies and specifications for various markets _ and came away with success.
When Life asked Ford Motor's top man why they are re-embarking on such a "world car" tactic, he said that it was vital to streamline development costs and cut the number of models sold around the world while dodging the part on the 1990 Mondeo.
