Thank goodness that the majority of Porsche enthusiasts (and sportscar enthusiasts in general) prefer the efficiency of the PDK so much so that Weissach have now made it standard. Those guys that persist perhaps do so mainly because they have never sampled dual clutch boxes themselves and stick to their stereotype that manual = cool, automatic = lame. They're just as proud as a generation or 2 before who believed 5th gear was 1 or 2 too many or that a smaller, lighter car (as per Colin Chapman's philosophy) could never win races. If racecar=cool and manual=cool then why can't fastcar+sequential gearbox (racecar style)=cool?

The article seems to be a straight forward reporting rather than a personal rant. Look at Ferrari, they do not offer manuals anymore because dual clutch gearbox are more enjoyable and easier to use.simple

Richard Leu - your bias against manual transmissions is too much. Plenty of drivers prefer and want real manual cars. I have manual, DSG and auto cars locally, but I would be saddened to see all manual options lost and this form of journalism is helping shape buyer preferences.

Please provide a more balanced view.
