BMW has injected more refinement and comfort into its fabled executive car once known to be a driving delight. Right or wrong move?

BMW and Mercedes-Benz, the best of rivals in the Thai luxury car market, are really on the ball this year. All kinds of cars are either being overhauled or updated with new technologies to match each other.

The latest salvo comes in the form of the executive saloon, probably the most important breed for German brands in Thailand, the 5-series and E-class, to be precise.

While it usually takes at least nine months for these specific models to come onto the market in locally assembled forms after they are launched in Germany, this time BMW has reduced the lead time by some three months.
