Your first car

For those who don't care about driving but need wheels, the saloon of sensible choice is now here

Nissan is really reaping the benefits of Ecocar, a car scheme devised by a past government to promote small, fuel-efficient cars.

Instead of developing an A-size car _ as the legislators had envisioned the makers doing so _ Nissan came out with a product known as the March that's nearly the size of a B-segment hatchback.

And because Ecocars are subject to only 17% excise tax, the March has a pricing advantage of nearly 100,000 baht over established B-cars like the Honda Jazz and Toyota Yaris, both facing a higher 30% (25% with E20-compatibility).

I think it's unfair of Nissan to make 20kpl Eco-car claims which can't be achieved in real-world driving. This reports say 11-17kpl in the Almera, well thats about the same as my car, the Chevrolet Aveo 1.4litre manual. I average about 13.5kpl per tank (no highway driving)and easily get 18kpl highway where manual transmission helps because there is no hydraulic transmission pump as in an auto like the Almera.
