In terms of sheer product substance, the third-generation Vios was a rather shoddy car, particularly when matched up against the Honda City. 

Despite having proper B-segment dimensions to stand out in its class with its chief nemesis, Toyota's entry-level saloon had a dull appearance, dated drivetrain, questionable driving manners and a raft of cost-containing measures.

However, that didn't stop the Vios from becoming the most popular passenger car in the Thai market thanks to additional _ and crucial _ aspects of reliability, numerous servicing facilities and low depreciation.
