Porsche's LSD U-turn
Porsche is very evasive about its reasons for fitting the Cayman with a limited-slip differential when it had always said it wouldn't. One explanation is that the diff was required to get the most from PDK.
LSD makes Cayman a real 911 rival.
But it's available with the manual. Then comes the argument that the diff is part of Porsche's strategy to differentiate the Boxster and Cayman models. But the LSD can be fitted to both.
A more cynical view is that with the current market conditions Porsche needs to give each of its models the best possible chance, and that the cheaper Cayman stands a better chance than the 911.
