New record in sight

Sales of new vehicles are set to reach nearly 800,000 at the year-end - the highest ever in the history of the Thai automobile industry

Sales of new vehicles reached 78,874 units in November to push the 11-month total from January to November to an all-time record of 707,235 vehicles.

As the car market heads towards a possible 800,000-unit annual performance by year's end, the previous record of 703,432 units set in 2005 has already been surpassed thanks in part to automotive in-house financing, new product introductions and market stimulation.

According to a Toyota report, last month's haul grew by 38.3% over last year during the same period with Toyota selling 33,650 units to clinch top honours, while Ford's 2,131 units was its best November haul in four years.
