Permanent auto excise tax cut urged

The government should consider permanent reductions in the excise tax on automobiles if it wants to boost the domestic car market, says Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand).
President Nobuyuki Murahashi said lower rates would enable car prices to fall, thus attracting more customers to showrooms.
He insisted the Japan-based carmaker is not against the government's first-time car buyer scheme aimed at stimulating sales of passenger cars and pickup trucks priced under one million baht.
