Automaker's 'Green' appeal

In designing its contribution to the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek horticultural extravaganza, now underway in Chiang Mai, Toyota Thailand clearly wanted to get across a strong environmental message.

Since its soft launch earlier this month, Toyota's Commemorative Park has been attracting lots of visitors, not only to admire the beautiful landscaping and masses of flowers in striking colours, but also to view screenings of a 3D documentary in a small on-site cinema. Focusing on natural disasters around the world, including the recent floods in Thailand, the film is intended to boost public awareness about the importance of safeguarding our natural resources.

Also attracting attention are various games and fun-filled activities in Toyota's "Save the Earth" zone, where visitors can learn more about climate change and global warming. The main draw, however, seems to be a stroll through a tranquil "green" tunnel, an arched metal frame up which edible climbing plants have been trained to grow.
