Chaiyong Krittapholchai talks about his long-term 'marriage'

Chaiyong Krittapholchai put on his best poker face when he said that he was "married" to his job as secretary-general of the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI).

But as the interview progressed it became pretty clear that the bespectacled numero uno of TISI _ established in 1969 in the Ministry of Industry (MoI) as the national standards body of Thailand _ was not bluffing.

"The first couple of years of my civil service career still allowed me a few luxuries such as playing badminton and having a social life to a certain extent, but later on I realised that I had no time for anything else but my work," said Chaiyong.
