160,000 Camrys, Corollas in Thailand part of recall

Toyota told its nationwide dealers yesterday to inform their customers to have their Camrys and Corollas serviced to fix a malfunctioning power window switch on the driver's side.

About 160,000 units of both models produced between March 21, 2006 and May 31, 2010 in Thailand are part of Toyota Motor's global recall.

"The power window defect in the two models is a minor problem because the switch has less lubricant to smooth its movement. Adding more lubricant will fix the problem," said a source at Toyota Motor Thailand.

Kudos to Toyota for getting on with the job. Toyota Motor Corp said it would recall vehicles worldwide because the faulty switch was a potential fire hazard.

Big Brickbats to the Toyota Motor Thailand rep for trying to downplay the matter-such a foolish and pointless attempt to pull the wool over the customers eyes made me think he or she must be a trainee PTP politician.
