Ford Helping Promote A Green Christmas

When Bing Crosby first confessed to dreaming of a `White Christmas' in this holiday song more than 70 years ago, Ford was racking up success of its own with the introduction of automobiles that were widely acknowledged as being ahead of their time.

At that time too, Santa Claus was busy delivering gifts galore to deserving children everywhere and he did it like the song so poignantly reminds us, "Where the tree tops glisten/ And children listen/ To hear sleigh bells in the snow." All very Christmassy, but not very `green'.

In fact, to complete his amazing reindeer-powered one-night delivery, dear old Santa covers almost 200 million kilometres, creating a staggering 53,667 tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions. The annual trip also requires around 88,000,000 kilos of food for the gravity defying reindeer.
