US automaker Ford Motor Co is upbeat about its sales prospects in Asia-Pacific, particularly for Asean and Thailand, which is strategically positioned as the production base for the Asean market.
Asia-Pacific contributed around 60-70% of global sales for Ford last year, mainly from its sub-compact cars and pick-up trucks. Matt Bradley, Asean president for Ford, said the firm achieved sales of about 1 million units in Asia last year, with 87,623 units from Asean, 27% growth from a year before.
The Fiesta is its leading sub-compact model and the Ranger its leading pick-up truck.
