Your information of weblog is wonderful. It really is total of frustrations in our existence. We reside, we could not escape from them. We have got to face to them and sort out to handle concerns at final.

I was once a nun and I think gender should not be the problem but we shoud see monk or nun as a person and what he or she does and I am admire many youg monk like Mha Vor Vachiramethi whom does a great job with modern way of teaching and he is emphasie on the education and I think if we have woman who want to learn and practice Bhudist to te full I am fr one totally support that and admire her for her dedication to Bhudist and wish her well and in the future I would love to help organise something or grup to help the nun who want to keep study and her work to be success and this is the good news. In the past I have help talk to a lot of girls to do the right things ( be good to their parent, keep study, stop taking drug etc). I was a king scholarship when I was in thailand and I try to do what ever I can to repay what I had received and what I think is good for Thailand and Bhudist being the country religious so I think both Monk and Nun and good people are good for the world. Bhuda said Everything is always changing and nothing is forever the only truth that doesnot change is everything is not always forever, its always change with time.Tradition is good but Modification with time and place is better.
All religious want people to be good but depend how we interpret them.
Hope we al can live in peace and love one another.

..I have not finished! One qualities of cultivated mind is open-mindedness. Thank you for posting my comment!

One question I always have, and ask the monks also, what are you afraid of, to have Bhikkhunis? And what are the consequences, negative aspects to the sasana and society?

The Buddha did not say that what disappears can't be revived, when there are cause and conditions. At the same time, what appears could be disappeared when there are cause and conditions. This is what the Buddha said.

"Me" and "Mine"= ego, ones try to protect, regardless what the future consequences will be...

I don't if some you follow what's the latest about the ordination. Well, a senior, very,Thai monk decided the ordination is 'invalid'!, regardless of what it said in the Vinaya of Gautama Buddha. And he further decided that all Bhikkhuni ordinations in Sri Lanka are not Theravada, eventhough the Sri Lankan monks who gave the ordination are Theravadin.(see dhammalight.com)

It seems to me that Thai monks have their own agenda and rules, different than what said in Gautama Buddha's dispensation.

It is sad for the Thai Buddhists as the whole, they can not do anything about it, just watch Buddha sasana going down hill, under money and status, more and more everyday

I really don't know the real cause. So I have no comment for who's right/wrong. But fighting among either monks or nuns are non-sense. Try to solve peacefully as monks and nuns are sons and daughters of Buddha, leading role of Buddha sarsana.

The article and sharing of this issue are always interesting and good to open the public's eyes.
Still, I do believe that we need to look at the information and situation carefully and with understanding. We also need to keep in mind that this issue is not simple, like one lus one equals two. We are now looking at and dealing with an issue involved with genders, eastern-n-western views, traditional and modern schools of thought, laws and whatelse many people may not think of at the moment.

One thing we see is that it can lead to a big change, either constructive or destructive direction for Buddhism, we don't know for sure, as the ramifications may present later and not in the short period of time.

I am a Buddhist, both from my family and also later by my own choice, I must say just let's be considerate with common sense and everything is very clear from his taught. What we-monks, nuns and laymen--need is free yourself from biases and self-interest first, I am sure the Lord never wished to see anyone fight to merely be called they are bhikku or bhikunee.
"Sangha split opens door for MARA..."
...'Mara' here should refer to those who make the sasana decline!

Ajahn Cha suggested that whenever we are in doubts about something, we should question ourself:
"WHAT WOULD THE BUDDHA SAY?"
... said 'sanghamitta'
...I think The Buddha would say" Welcome back my daughters!"

Peace..
Wonderful news about female ordination. Long overdue. Necessary to follow all traditions of lovely Thai culture, but necessary also to bend with the wind of change. The tree will not break.
