Your analogy is brilliant, thank you for pointing people to the holistic reality. I fear that sometimes business goals choke humanitarian needs. It is as if the need to eat overtakes the need to live.

Politicians should take note and lead us to long term solutions rather than react to short term pressure. Or else, what are leaders for?

Good metaphore. What you did not point out was why these industries were there in the first place, and why they did eventually cause a problem, despite the fact that they "pass" EIA test. May I recommend that:
1. We establish a citizen group to help solve the present problem, without wasting our time on the past;
2. Experts have to be in that group to provide necessary technical advices;
3. Press the government to move its functions there, house the MPs there and live their business life, as normal people do, so that they would understand the "normal" citizen's life, and know what to do;
4. Follow up closely with the "rescue" plan, of ONEP.

We need both business and protection of citizen's life. May be it is about time we get serious about the sort and strategy of development.

Lastly, let us press the owners of these enterprise to meet you guys, the press and get some first hand information from them as to what exactly will they do about it!!!

Great analogy! The only logical moves government all over the world does is in position or working papers for any problem. When it comes to implementation much is to be desired; the 29th is long gone and disaster often taken its course before action by the government become incoherently logically.

It is very amusing that even now, no one or government body is really addressing the ROOT CAUSE of the problem. The very good example is the amendment of Enhancement and Promotion of National Environmental Quality Act just to comply with the Constitute about health impact assessment. No additional requirement is released to ensure no problem is going to happen somewhere else.

What a good Good story to Thai People?
It seems that we 're lack of conciousness towards the nature ,and the actions we did. Always, try to maximize the profits as much as we can, while we less concern towards the nature. What should we do to stop that lily growing

I think comment 3 makes the most sense of all.
I think the PM knows what he is doing to fight the old establishment and corruption but he has to walk on eggs to achieve his goals.
C2, the most senior policeman should be a police chief? So what is the reason of the existance of the committee,if you are right? And that is the politically impossible choice as everyone knows.

The author is right in that Abhisit is better than other premiers because,at least, he tried to maintain some degree of transparency, and I think keeping the process somehow transparent must be a kind of self-protective measure for the PM, given the current power balance of the government. One more thing, to appoint an acting Police chief as a compromise is not an Abhisit's unique idea. Thaksin appointed an acting chief and kept him in the post for 6 months.
