Why him and not others? Lets make a statue of all the army and police officers who have died doing there job. I think it's non-sense and a media stunt.

For his sons who will get promoted, how is that going to make the Thai police better? Do they even qualify for their rank? your father being a good police does not make you one.

You know what you risk when you join the force.

Thank him for his work, but don't exploit his death.
Your comment is ridiculous and says more about the likelihood of you searching these pages for things that could be construed as 'pro-Thaksin'.

If I were in this family then I certainly would not be voting Democrat (the South being a traditional heartland for the Democrats!). The one thing worse than a corrupt politician is a politician that comes to office heralding how his government will be fair, transparent and honest and a staunch defender of human rights, only to renege on all of that! Abhisit's government (and the Police) has failed this family! End of story!

I hope that Thaksin does not get back into power. However, if we have seen the best of Abhisit and what he can do for the country, then one is left thinking that the country is doomed for the forseeable future. It would seem that the only guy with a plan is Thaksin! People with plans usually get there way when all around them are drifting. The situation is dire!

Abhisit has the makings of a good Prime Minister but his performance suffers from a lack of backbone! In this respect, it makes no difference whether he resigns now or waits for the people to help him find the exit door at a general election! Weak leaders never get re-elected!

As well as being very weak, Abhisit is failing the people of Thailand! Is it impossible for him to free himself from the shackles of the Bangkok elite, PAD, Army etc. and regain his dignity and self-respect? Let's hope so!

Doing what is best for the people of Thailand SHOULD be the same as doing what is best for those who are trying very hard to obstruct social democracy. A strong Thai society equals prosperity for ALL Thais. Why is it so hard for the Bangkok establishment to get their snouts out of the trough and see the riches that lie ahead for them if they stop exploiting the Thai people?

Come on, Khun Abhisit. Get your act together! The clock is ticking and you are definitely losing the game! As it stands, a coupe is all that will keep you in power, assuming Sondhi does not replace you as the military's preferred candidate.

This is not symptomatic for just Thailand. Everywhere in the world careers are advanced by knowing the right people. All too often the right person is passed for a promotion because he or she does not have the right connections.

The statue should be in front of the Parliament House so that lawmakers can see what corruption does to the people who foster the idea of upholding the law without graft. Why is there not a law making the paying for offices illegal?

I enjoyed the peice until the last sentence. Was the promotion denied because he was a red-shirt? Is the democrat govt. the only govt. to play politics with promotions? If the answer is no, then the last sentence was uncalled for and may betray the writer's bias.
