The People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD)'s closure of Bangkok's two airports last year have cost the country 290 billion baht, according to a study conducted by the Bank of Thailand.

Entitled Thailand's Tourism Industry After The Closure of Airports, the study said the political crisis not only affected tourism industry but also other related industries.

"Based on analysis, total losses were 290 billion baht, equivalent to 3.0 of nominal GDP (gross domestic product)," the study said.

According to the study, the losses included 120 billion baht in the service industry, 90 billion baht in logistics and 60 billion baht in industry.

The closure of Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports took place between Nov 25 and Dec 4, as the PAD demanded the removal of a government led by Somchai Wongsawat.

There will be no peace without justice. PAD and whoever backs up PAD behind the scene don't care about people. They care about power just like Thaksin. The differences are that PAD and PAD backers were willing to do whatever to get the power back without regards to how damaged the country is going to be or how average Thai people will suffer. They are willing to destroy Thai economy, and exploit innocent followers to death in order to be in power. In the real world, you have to be cruel like PAD and PAD backers (whoever they are) to be in power. I believe PAD and PAD backers think they are the only owner of Thailand. As the matter of fact, I feel like they own Thailand right now. I don't think UDD have the gut to do the same things PAD did.

BP should ask the next questions: how are we going to recoup this from the Parasites and Diseases (PADs) and their supporters?

A loss of 290 billion baht is only the beginning. This does not include future loss of tourism. Already the hotels are half empty during high season. Many tourists are changing their plans or consider Thailand unsafe or too unstable to visit. On the 26th of November I arrived at Suvarnnabhumi only to realize there weren't any planes arriving or departing. I couldn't leave for another week! I vow that I'll never come back to Thailand!

NOTICE TO ALL READERS, there is a cancer among us. His job is not to communicate. His job is to poison the truth and spread propaganda on these boards. He is paid for this. He uses many names and seems to dump some of them when caught. These are names he definitly uses: DREY....VOICE OF REASON....LAW....GENT....TRUE DEMOCRAT....THONG These names are also probably the same person: N or n....KAWEEKA....KASIT.

He lies and disorts all facts, including his own board name.

Not much loss, just a litle and our king can pay for it. I wish PAD to come out again and take over airports again in order to demand Thaksin back and send to jail, hhhhaaaaa. It would be funny as FM said he had fun at the airport seige.

Come on siege airports again coz it is not iliegal in Thailand.
