Govt hopes to get 20 seats in by-election

Deputy Prime Minister and Democrat party secretary-general Suthep Thuagsuban on Thursday expressed confidence that the coalition parties would gain at least 20 out of 29 seats in the parliament after the by-election on Sunday.

The by-election will take place in 26 constituencies of 22 provinces after the Constitution Court dissolved the People Power, Chart Thai, and Matchimathipataya parties on electoral fraud charges and disqualified their executives.

On Puea Thai party MP Chalerm Yubamrung's announcement to return as the new prime minister, Mr Suthep told the media not to give too much importance of the opposition MP, claiming that various information he gave were wrong.

Meanwhile, Election Commission (EC) member Praphan Naikowit expected the voter turnout for the re-election on Sunday should be around 60 per cent.

As for the Bangkok gubernatorial election on the same day, the commissioner believed at least 54 per cent of voters will exercise their voting rights.

NOTICE TO ALL READERS, there is a cancer among us. His job is not to communicate. His job is to poison the truth and spread propaganda on these boards. He is ONLY A LOW LIFE NON HUMAN BEING paid for this. He uses many names and seems to dump some of them when caught. These are names he definitely uses: wtf....sloth....Jack....levenfeld (the real one).

He lies and distorts all facts, including his own board name. He is a low life scum bag and must be treated as that. Am only sorry the good old days when we freely could dispose of untermenschen like this is over.

    To Sloth and wtf.

You are all both so right in your views on the political issues in Thailand of today. It is nice to see that we have such enlightened people in our growing PAD movement. Now I fully understand that we have spent our money wisely.

Come to think of it. Now that we have kicked this toxic Usurper (Yes that’s THAKSIN) out of office and reclaimed our birth given right to govern this country, now we really have the opportunity to stop this nonsense permanently and set up hinders for such an obscure situation to ever reoccur again. These ignorant, poor, northern excuses of non human low life must once and for all learn the basic fact that their opinions never again will bear any weight when it comes to governing this country.

Now that we can rightfully claim we gained power in a democratic fashion, we must learn from history and set up solid barriers that secures our future for the next one thousand years and secure us the position where we belong; in charge of the political power of this amazing nation. To obtain that goal we must make sure we can stay in control of courts, the army and the police as we have established the last couple of years. This is the very important lesson history taught us. Then we of course must make sure that the press continue to write the stories we want them to tell. Obviously we’re in good progress there already.

But of course the sad fact will still remain, that there will no matter how much we suppress the media, remain a few of these dreadful, poor, ignorant losers up north and in Isaan. Well history have given us a lesson there to; we can put up special camps to relocate an re-educate these people in what is truly in their best interests and sole true conception of life. Simple, but the final solution to the problem this nation now and ever after is going to face.

And for this BLASTING AND IRRITATING DREY; please remember that it not only Saddam who have weapons of mass destruction. I guess gassing you will be the appropriate answer for you.

So thank you both, one more time wtf and Sloth for joining our fantastic PAD movement. Really hope you were satisfied with your payslip, don’t worry there’s a lot more coming now that we’re back in the control of government. You know what they say; if you’re not with us you’re against us and if so we must crush you literally like an insect.

You are right, "You are killing your own country" - the 'invisible hands' who created the present situations will be so happy with you.

Let us now gracefully and happily congratulate the winner of the 2007 election and let them take care of the Kingdom without obstruction, rallies, and sabotage.

    Hi sloth - Discussion 13 : 08/01/2009 at 06:30 PM

The "higher purpose" of the red shirts are supported by moral concept of truthfulness, non-violent, integrity, the equal rights of fellow human being, return of democracy. These are the moral concepts all should support not just the red shirt and I was hoping that the yellow shirt have at least one of these.

I am not sure what you meant by 'peacefully gathered'. What I saw on television was yellow-shirt with sharp objects, guns and ping pong bombs, using vehicle to run over police, hijacking public transports, high on yaabaa - too many to mention here.

Mr Samak was truthful and open not like the present government who is the puppets of those 'invisible hands' shocked by the 2007 election result and reacted from the position of fear, insecurity and greed.

Any more moral high ground from you?

He will take full responsibility because he cannot prosecute PAD.

Hi Thong(#10). I do not really think that you want an answer, so I will be brief. The "higher purpose" to justify civil disobedience needs to actually be a moral concept, supported by many people. What would be such a higher moral purpose for the reds? Is the present government the admitted nominee of a convicted felon? Has the present government blown off limbs of people who had peacefully gathered? This is what I had in mind Thong. What are you thinking here?

    To 'The Sage'
You are right on the money mate!
“REALITY” how many people even know where to begin in understanding that word!

What is the old saying about the people of a Nation?
"People of a Nation get the Government they deserve"
    Thailand is no exemption!!

I used to think that contributing to these forums would educate, inform and encourage people to have dialogue and understanding.
Now all I see are purile ramblings of the uneducated, ill-informed and bigotted polarised groups. These ramblings mirror the same infantile comments and behaviour that we see everyday from the "so called" fighters against this, that, and the other.
You remind me of a little boy I once knew who stamped on his own toys because he did not want others to play with them.
You are killing your own country. When you finally wake up and realise the world is going through one of the worst financial crises of modern history. And when you are out of work, out of house, out of land aand farm.....YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THAT YOU CONTRIBUTED TO YOUR CONDITION BY BEING SO "OUT OF TOUCH" WITH REALITY.
