The government will not move the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) summit to another venue after Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva announced Wednesday that it would be held in Hua Hin, Prime Minister's Office Minister Sathit Wongnongtoey said Thursday.
All parties have the agreement on this new venue, and it will not be relocated to some place else, he said.
The government decided to move the venue to Hua Hin after the Unite Front of Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) threatened to blockade the summit, which was earlier planned to be held in Bangkok.
Thailand is hosting the summit, so all the Thais should be a good host as it would bring good image to the country and can help restore investors' confidence, he said.
On security measures planned for the 14th Asean summit, Mr Sathit said deputy prime ministers have already assigned security agencies to take care of the issue if the UDD rallies there.
