Deputy Prime Minister and Democrat party secretary-general Suthep Thaugsuban on Thursday became irate after the government was accused of distributing less amount of money from its 115-billion-baht supplementary budget to different ministries administered by its coalition allies.
Mr Suthep dismissed the news that the ministries under the Democrat party received much more budget that those run by the coalition partners.
The budget allocation was not aimed at developing political parties but addressing national problems instead, according to the deputy premier.
He said the coalition parties can ask him if they have questions about the allotment, and he believed this issue will not lead to a cabinet reshuffle.
Previously, ex-Chart Thai party deputy leader Somsak Prissananantakul said the tourism sector was seriously hit after Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports were shut down due to the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) protest, but the government only allocated 550 million baht to stimulate tourism.
“The government should give more importance to the tourism sector and benefits of the country,” said Mr Somsak.
