No anti-Thaksin fund: PM

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva on Sunday dismissed the news about setting up a fund worth two billion baht to topple the regime of former premier Thaksin Shinawatra and the red-shirt United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) group.

Mr Abhisit said it would not be possible to set up such fund and the supplementary budget is not being used for this purpose. He said there is no need for the government to use its budget for political reasons, but it could be used to promote reconciliation and democracy.

He again called on the exiled ex-prime minister to return and fight his charges in Thailand, adding that the government will provide him with optimum security.

"The government is not giving importance to Thaksin's movement because there are other issues the government must focus on, especially economic problems and political reform," said Mr Abhisit.

Meanwhile, prime minister's personal speaker Thepthai said he challenged Thaksin to apply for a visa to enter Japan.

He also claimed that Puea Thai party MPs decided not to meet Thaksin in Hong Kong because they were afraid that China may revoke his visa.

The Chinese government allowed Thaksin to enter its country as a tourist and it would not want political activities to be involved, according to Mr Thepthai.

One of rumors is some people that Taksin crossed in business are after him. Not politic, is personal. Maybe some mother of children die from his order shoot to kill suspects put money together? This more likely.

Agree with Drey there's far too much talking about Thaksin. Ignore Thaksin, ignore the buffoon, don't give any credit to anything he says, don't even listen to anything he says. Thaksin's finished, he's over, a spent force, he's a big time loser. Ignore the big buffoon!

They may have such this foolish fund for many years back and they also used this fund to support PAD for their activities and support the army during the coup.

Everyone, cool down. Having some form of opposition is necessary and good for the checks and balances in government. A stronger opposition ensures the best policies for the most people get implemented. Does anybody really want only one party with complete control over every decision and no other party strong enough to question their deeds?

As for Abhisit, I am becoming more and more dissapointed in his lack of leadership which is to say that he should have done the right thing about:

    1. Refugees : Instead of deny from the outset he should have stated honestly that he did not know the facts and would conduct an intensive investigation into the militaries handling this whole affair. By letting Anunpong & Kasit deny which became an obvious lie Abhisit aligned himself by defending their position until only a week ago where he finally, under strong world condemnation, initiated an investigation (hopefully by non-military, bi-partisan people).

    2. Thaksin Thaksin Thaksin : Instead of constantly referring to Thaksin and using his name as the focal point for all Thailands ills he should have taken the opposite tact by ignorning all "T" news and established full open meetings with PTP leaders, UDD leaders and reprimanded (strongly) all officials who have been banned from politics and political dialogue for their continuous crossing that line.

    3. PAD : By offering government posts to known PAD leaders and not strongly criminalizing their activities he has made his bed on the wrong side of the law. He should immediately eliminate all PAD connections with his government.

    4. Kasit : He's got to get more insightful opinions from his staff. Choosing Kasit must be an obvious no-win situation for a long time to come. Kasit should be terminated from his post for not only his open PAD support but for many statements detrimental and embarrasing to the nation. As FM he already has destroyed his reputation and any respect normally renderred by foreign governments.

    5. Elections : He wanted no-confidence votes in parlimant and new snap-elections with TRT than PPP (twice) but now ignores the same calls even though his government lacks an obvious popular vote mandate.

Than, even with the backdoor method of gaining power, I would have given him the benefit of the doubt and supported him strongly. It would have shown that he truly is a man of character and stands behind his words not behind who he owes favors to. His credentials look great on paper but he is failing at performing deeds that will strengthen his credibility and offer real unification of the majority.

Unfortunately, he (Abhisit) is fast becoming just another cog in the endless wheels of manipulation, corruption, cronyism and power hording that is the norm in Thai politics.

Its not too late but his window of opportunity is closing fast. Really is too bad!

One thing is always a certainty. When all the groups come out to deny this, or anything else, so vehemently. It's always what's going on.

There is an old proverb "There are no secrets in the world.".

Remember this, when you pointed the finger against Thaksin, do you know that the four fingers of yourself pointed against yourself. Thaksin had been trying to do many things good for the country. Thailand was famous among the SE Asian countries, Arab and etc.. Thailand was stand talled among those countries. Thailand was the best example leader among those countries. Unfortunately, who're behind the military coup d'etat to throw Thansin's government out from his office as the legitimate government? How many enemy's groups that Thailand got to face now? Now Cambodia government is one, internal political groups within Thailand is another.

What's another problem that Thailand had made wrong decisions? When you creat and presure the enemy, of course in-turn you will deserve to get the fight back? How long this long-horn turmoil will be ended and you never know? Depite the incident occurred that maybe worse scenario movement in the future! You cannot fix the past mistakes, but the past mistakes can tell you in the future to learn that you will never repeat the same mistake again. The military coup d'etat against Thaksin was the big mistakes. Now the country was suffered from those causes! Who's the main resources of this problem? Who can fix this? Let me frankly talk to Thaksin's opponents this, Thailand will not ease without Thaksin political reformed. He will be the main key resources!
