Manchester City Football Club removed its former owner and fugitive ex-prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra as the club's honourary president, according to ESPN Star.

City's owner Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak from the Abu Dhabi United Group (ADUG) resolved that the former premier's conviction for corruption and fugitive status can no longer be tolerated.

According to the football club, his name is also removed from its official website, match day programme as well as areas around the City of Manchester Stadium.

In addition, his 10 per cent share in the club is expected to be sold.

Now the Manchesters are also divided. Some feel grateful to Thaksin for resurrecting Manchester City and bring it up to a higher level, while others will not buy a ticket as long as Thaksin is involved with Manchester City. I hope it will not come to a stage like in Thailand - the reds vs the yellows.

I wonder if Sheik Mansour was one of those seen up north with Taksin when he was trying to sell Thailand's rice farmers land to the Arabs. It might explain the 50 mil profit and confuse the easily confusable AMLO. Did the redshirts really believe he was just acting as a tour guide?

somsak, you don't know much about the making and releasing of news, don't you?
You think a newspaper has to have its own correspondents on every single spot on earth?
You really expect BP to have a correspondent staying in Manchester? I think either you are living behind the moon or Thaksins relations in Manchester are so much important for yourself that you think BP' correspondents have to follow your guy step by step.
News around the world are released by newsagencies and most papers around the world take over the news from them. I recommend you to learn a bit about the making of papers.

i think that bp wrote this story based on foreign agencies, because i'm almost sure that they don't have a correspondent in manchester, that's is the way they wrote foreign news.

So if he made all this money when he sold Man City and all the money he smuggled out of the country where did it go. AH!!!! to pay for his hotel room so he is really down to his last trillion, and that is why all the brainwashed red shirts want to pass the hat around to keep him in comfort. Maybe his partner in crime Chalerm is secretly sending Thaksin money to keep him in the style that he has enjoyed for so long while other people suffer in the poverty that he has brought about.
