Thaksin: 'Rather die than lose'

  • Online news: Breakingnews

Fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra made a phone-in from an unspecified country to his red-clad supporters on Saturday evening, saying he is not afraid of death and is ready to return to Thailand.

At the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) rally at Pai Keaw temple in Don Meuang, the ousted premier also criticised the government's efforts to address the local economy.

He said solving the economy also requires ingenuity but new ideas cannot flourish in a country without democracy, adding that if someone says democracy is not important, then the person has the wrong idea.

The fugitive ex-prime minister thanked people who support democracy and justice. He said if Thai people are ready for him to return and want him to work for the country, he will serve as premier again.

He said it would be all right if he could be assassinated upon his return, but everything must be dealt with in a justified manner. He said he has not been treated fairly since the formation of the Assets Scrutiny Committee (ASC) after the 2006 military coup.

If he is continually being mistreated, he would rather die than be a loser.

Jeez... sorry if you can't handle the truth mr. jivepun, billybob or whatever your real name is. You're no Thai, that's for sure and I never claimed to be. the name is james dennis sullivan, born in chicago and living in belmullet, county mayo, ireland, birthplace of my grandfather and great grandfather and damn proud of it! that's in the far northwest in case you were wondering. i was in thailand when the coup happened 2 and a half years ago and was thrilled at the time to see that thieving scoundrel toxin run out of town. anyone (except the short-sighted thais) could see what was going on. i've been following things in a minor way ever since. i don't know squat about the PAD other than they held some very admirable protests against a very vile subsequent group of fools that tried get revenge for their beloved criminal leaders ousting. and the PAD certainly got their point across... i was laughing the whole time. how could the pussy government in place not keep them in check was a true testament to how useless they were. and then again it was the PPP's own stupidity and criminal acts that brought them down. i say good riddance to bad rubbish. whatever happens to the PAD is of no concern to me. i just love seeing toxin suffer. this blog is about him wanting to die, so everyone addressing hate towards him here is the appropriate place to do so. take you semantical ravings to another page where it is better classified. you sir, are nothing more than a maniacle, raving sore loser. accept you & your red party's defeat like a man. someday if they're lucky they may be given another chance to redeem themselves... but i doubt it. this is my final post to you. you've been an easy target, thanks for the engagement, it's been fun! : )

yellowman - you just can't get away from negative diatribes can you. Your efforts to avoid exposing yourself can be quite creative. But this is a new one. Pretending to be non-Thai and outside the country. Why do PAD members go to such length to distance themselves from their idiotic roots. At least you served a good purpose, even though you are devoid of intellectual depth, you served as a good foil to inform you and your friends how shallow you really are. And how you are pawns in the hands of those whose political existence depends on eliminating credible opposition. Their political cachet is so barren, that they can only focus on demonizing the opposition, instead of depending on their own ideas. And as for you Tony, does your bitterness and fear know no bounds. Is he such a huge threat you would even advocate your hysterical defence. You and yellowman and all your PAD friends need to find a political life. Right now you are in a dead-end street and no amount of scare mongering, fearfullness and advancing your aims by demonizing those greater than yourself, will achieve your illogical objectives.

Normally I'd reject the idea of political assassination but in Thaksin's case I'd make an exception and grant him his wish.

The jokes on you Mr. Thai poser Jaiapun... I don't live in Thailand and have been having this back and forth banter as a fun verbal spar with you as it's been great free entertainment simply engaging and agitating you. I really could care less about the politics of Thailand, but I can tell you it's been fun posing as one who does just to play devil's advocate. But I can see that our little game has become tiresome. Thai politics are pretty juvenile as are the majority of the population. I've been there twice and stayed for a couple months each time. The majority of the population are what I would equivilate to a country with the mental bandwidth and reasoning of a group of 6th grade children. Good luck in your life there and trying to support your red party... I wouldn't wish your existence and unhappiness on anyone. Things here in Ireland is but a daisy! Good day... : )

Thailand should turn its back to globalization as it is destroying society in every way, and instead join hands and follow the King's advice and implement the principles of the Sufficiency Economy.

This would both assure sustainable development FOR ALL, and the restoration and preservation of Thailand's unique society and culture.

The alternative is a society pressured by the government to consume ever more to make the economy grow, an ever growing army of underpaid and overworked underclass citizens unable to make ends meet, the eventual uprising of the working class and civil war.

    What's it gonna be?

#1 - if you and your like-minded friends can pursuade ALL Thai people to give up their right to have a voice via the ballot box in who governs them, they don't deserve that right. My suspicion is though that they will not be asked about this. it will be imposed on them. Abhisit is already preparing the groundwork. He talks about having a representative group of respected people offer political reform ideas, code for ideas on how to eliminate Democracy.
#2 - The US electoral College system is one-person-one-vote Yellowman. Sorry to prick this little balloon of misinformation. The majority of voters in any given State ascertained by the one-person-one-vote system, delivers all that State's electoral votes. The electoral College is designed to give weightings to populous states such as New York, vs, sparsely populated States such as Wyoming. You think Americans and Europeans would accept anything less than one-person-one-vote electoral democracy. If the PAD ever tried to voice such a thing there, they would be considered so fringe as not to even register on the political landscape
#3 - The arrogance of the PAD in suggesting they and their friends only have the wherewithal to select leaders is unbelievable. Those uneducated people sure know what is best for them. They selected Thaksin before and would again, in spite of the orchestrated demonization campaign by you and your PAD friends, the military, Biased Media, jusiciary and others. That these addled dolts were able to see through this demonization campaign and see it for what it is, is a testament to their efficacy as insightful voters.
#4 - If you and I were given the resources and authority to eliminate vote buying in the electoral process, we could do it yellowman. I have done it in another jurisdiction. Where there is a 'will', there is a way. But in this case there is not a 'will'. Anti-Democracy advocates would prefer to encourage vote buying, highlight it and demonise Politicians as a way to achieve their anti-democracy objectives.
Wow, good for you yellowman. You are the first one with the power of your convictions and stated your intent. We should have had this discussion much sooner. I genuinely would appreciate debating with the PAD.

Oh I'll admit it!... "Extinguish Democracy in Thailand"! There I said it! You happy now? And I mean it... this country cannot soundly exist with democracy. There are too many ignorant people in the country to make a sound vote. Since when are you going to let Hillbillies and Farmers decide what's best for the country? They are motivated by shallow things and couldn't vote for the good of the nation if their lives depended on it. And you want to give them the power? We all see where it led the last election! I prefer not to let my future rest in the hands of the ignorant and undereducated. Might I remind you that the USA is not a one person - one vote system either. They still go with the Electoral College system which was put in place long ago to keep the same thing from happening, letting simpletons vote the Government in. I like the fact that Ahbisit is running things now. And let's see what he does... only time will tell. For the UDD to keep pissing and moaning about not being in charge is about as childish as it gets. They had their chance and screwed it up BAD! As I said before, if they were so great at running the land, they would still be in charge. The fate they suffer now is by their own doing, nobody else's. Now go back to crying in your glass of Sahtoe! : )

Yellowman - you wont do it, will you. I can just conclude that either you don't have a clue about what you will replace one-Person-one-vote elctoral democracy with, or you and your PAD friends want to hide it. I hope for your sake it is the latter. And if that is the case, why will you and your friends not admit that you want to extinguish democracy in Thailand? Are you ashamed? Do you know that it wont stand up to debate? This is an anti-Democratic vs. Democratic debate Yellowman, and you are afraid to join it. Your questions - #1 -Which UDD leader will lead the country...maybe none. Elections determine such a thing. #2-To non-democratic people, you cannot fathom the idea that there may not be a pre-determined individual who will be anointed through an election. You are dying to know who will lead and be PM - elections my dear person, elections will. Maybe your friend Abhisit will be the PM after elections, maybe your PAD leader will be - Som....(forget the name). But elections frighten you don't they Yellowman. You want dictatorial imposition of the dictates of your minority on us majority. Finally, you don't want elections, so what do you want? the umpteenth time I've asked the question. Will you avoid again. I presume so.

Jaiapun, Jaiapun... Forget about me and the ruling party for a moment will you? And let's put your sleazy figurehead aside. That being said, please inform us of the brilliant UDD leaders who will lead the country out of this quagmire that the TRT/PPP created to begin with. What are the brilliant new ideas that they failed to produce the last 3 tenures? So far they have only been a joke. Please inform us as to who will spearhead this magnificent change for the UDD. Is it a secret person waiting in the wings of which we know not? Or is it another joke leader like Samak and Pussy Cat Brother-In-Law? Who else do you have??? Please tell us, we're dying to know! So far, all the Red Coats can do is cry about not being in office. Show me the mastermind who is better than everyone else that you all so madly wish to elevate to PM! Show me or just keep spewing out your mindless drivel of injustice, then go cry some more in your corner!!! The UDD are the losers, and they are so for a good reason. This is fact. If they were so brilliant, they wouldn't be in this position, now would they?

Yellowman, Yellowman....more and more of the same. Nothing different. You are anti-Democracy of that I am sure, as are your PAD Brethren. But none of you look forward and suggest something constructive. It is one diatribe after another. As hard as I have tried, I have not been able to smoke out the PAD about their Governance ideas going forward. It is always more of the same, more of the judicially supported demonization program of Thaksin, lauding the current Government whose policies are trying to out-Thaksin Thaksin, and more of the fear of elections and any other form of gaining popular support via elections and referendums. They know they are the minority and can only achieve their aims through imposition. Again yellowman and your PAD friends. Please, please expose yourself. Is it because you are bereft of any ideas. Or is it because you refuse to divulge them as a way to avoid debating untenable ideas that would be unsupported by the majority of our countrymen and women. If not one-person-one-vote electoral democracy, what??? How many times do I need to ask this question? Why do you avoid? For just a moment go beyond your psychotic fear of Thaksin and tell us how you propose to select the leaders who will rule over us in the future.
