Team undecided on THAI future

The cabinet's economic team has put the brakes on the Transport Ministry's order that Thai Airways International (THAI)must stop using Don Mueang airport for domestic flights and base all its Bangkok services at Suvarnabhumi airport.

A meeting on Wednesday chaired by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva resolved that the Transport Ministry reconsider the policy of using Suvarnabhumi as Bangkok's single airport.

.Mr Abhisit said later the plan to end all domestic flights by Thai Airways at the old airport comes at the time when the national airline is restructuring, so the new THAI board should be the one making the decision.

The government would leave the decision up to the THAI board, and would  not interfere in its decision making.

THAI labour union leader Jaemsri Sukchoterat said the ministry was given two weeks to report back to the economic team.

Good grief, how the h*ll is a passenger with an upcoming domestic to international connection on THAI expected to plan when to fly the domestic leg! It is bad enough that flights go to 2 different airports but now we simply do not know which flights will go to Suv, from where we take our international departures. This is a totally ridiculous situation that impacts directly on fare paying pax, but no-one seems to care about that. No wonder that THAI is in such a mess, it has so many bosses and an incompetent management as a result. A text book example of how NOT to run an airline.
