United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) protesters have threatened to cause serious traffic chaos by parking taxis on roads all over Bangkok if authorities try to disperse their rally in front of Government House.
More red-clad protesters were seen around Government House on Monday morning, hoping to prevent Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban from entering the compound.
On the protest stage, speakers continued criticising the government while encouraging more people to join the UDD.
They said that if authorities use force to disband their protest they would work with sympathetic groups of taxi owners in Bangkok and nearby provinces and park cabs on roads throughout the capital and paralyse traffic.
UDD core members called on their supporters in the provinces to assemble at their provincial city halls and watch the pro-UDD D-Station TV channel.
They urged public bus, taxi and motorcycle taxi drivers to transport the red-shirt protesters to Government House for free.
They also asked the protesters to prepare towels and water to protect against any attempt to disperse them with teargas.
The UDD leaders claim the country has long been under the control of a bureaucratic polity, and their protest is aimed at restoring democracy. They have promised the demonstrations will be peaceful.
