People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) leader Sondhi Limthongkul criticised the government over its failure to bring fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra back to face his jail term and other charges pending against him.
Mr Sondhi said the government had not trying seriously to get Thaksin back. Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya - who was a strong PAD supporter before joining the cabinet - was the only one who had tried to extradite him.
Mr Sondhi was speaking after hearing the charges against him when he reported to the Royal Thai Police Club on Monday. The charges relate to the seizure of Government House by PAD supporters last year.

On Thaksin's reference to powerful 'unconstitutional figures' behind the September 2006 coup, Mr Sondhi said Thaksin also denied that he was the person who earlier staged a [parliamentary] coup but proved unable to run the country well.
He insisted that the PAD would not gather for now, The current problem involved the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), Thaksin, former army chief Anupong Paojinda, banned politician Newin Chidchob, and Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban, he said.
The PAD core members nationwide would meet in May to discuss the move to form a political party, he said.
