Sondhi Limthongkul, a core leader of People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD), was attacked early Friday in Bangkok, near the ASTV television station.

Mr Sondhi was injured in the head while his driver was in critical condition, the Manager website reported.

An unknown group of men reportedly shot the tires of Mr Sondhi's car before firing into the car, where Mr Sondhi and his body guards were seated.

PAD spokesman Panthep Puapongpan condemned those who were hired to attack Mr Sondhi.

And what is going to happen next? Politican will be shot on the street in daylight and appartment blocks will be blown with innocent citizens killed? I think it is just a matter of time and this will truly happen. It seems that Thai people are not able to solve their problems through dialogue and communication but only with violence. Yellow, red or blue shirts or whatever group you belong you are not only killing your enemies but you are also killing your country where a human life has no value anymore.

God bless you Thailand and I hope you learn from this!!!

hi! lets not just blame taksin and red shirt, we must remember what mr. Sondi talked during his relay last year. he and his team did criticised so many other official besides taksin. so those people looking for answering his speeches might find this time as best for them as the blame can be put on to taksin and red shirt.. what do you guys say...?

When you dig a hole for somebody else, there is always the possibility to fall in that hole yourself. The 2006 military coup is to blame. Everything happening after is just a unavoidable consecvence. You put a gun to somebodys head, dont get surprised when you get a gun pointed to your head. It was ok 15 times, but sooner or later its not ok anymore. And we are there now.
Thaksin claimed for a few days ago, its to late for negotiations. I suppose we will see a lot of political violence in the future, the old establishment still belive that nothing have changed in the country during the last decades and they are confident in solving all future problems in the same way as in the past, with the help of the Army. Its a pitty, I thought Thailand had the possibility to go an other way than violence. The harder this establishment is going to fight the red shirts, the harder and longer the red shirts will fight back. It might be the end of the peacefull Thailand for a long long time.

give the ppl education (affordable to all!) Give them a job to earn a living and you will see in 20 years no one wants to fight anymore. People with an own roof over their head, being dressed well and a full stomach do not fight! But the above cost money! Money which belongs to the poor yet being held back by the wealthy ones. So what have we got? Nothing but a dispute about "have and no have". THAILAND QUO VADIS?

I MUST quote again, and this quote should be quoted a thousand times a thousand times over.

    """AMAZING THAILAND""

Open your eyes. With the criminal Taksin gone, who was to lead the Thai Government?
Samak? Or the brother in law of Taksin? Or perhaps one of Chalerm's family? Any army general?

Personally, I am very glad we found the now PM.
I hope only he shows a little more backbone- A N D he stays on !

I fully agree: Toxin is the reason of all the troubles and is for sure behind everything. He is an evil person preferring to destroy his country in order to stay in power than to think about his country's prosperity. How can these poor people from the N and NE continue to support him now that he has been convicted so many times already for his wrongdoings and stealing money. I understand them: they have been lured by his populist program which has done nothing else than enriching himself and the Shinawatra corporation! Will he ever realise what harm he has done to this beautiful country?

The problem started with the ouster of Thaksin by the military, as they did not any further action. Furthermore it is now the time for thailand to set a constitution which can not be changed any time by greedy and power hungry politicans once they get elected. The root of evil lies in the Thai cultural structure which is not useable anymore.

Well! who should we blame...? fighting among brothers can be dangerous...its sometimes difficult to stop!!! Gold bless... he survived,my sympathy to his driver.... hope he will recover soon... God bless...

I don't understand one thing in here... people started to blame Taksin.. it may not be right to blame him without proper evidence at this movement.
