A senior Dubai police official has insisted that fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra is not in the United Arab Emirates.

"The former prime minister of Thailand, Thaksin Shinawatra, is not in Dubai and no one with this name is here," Dubai deputy police commander Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina told Gulf News.

Thai police have asked for Interpol's assistance to locate the outlawed politician, who is now said to be carrying up to six passports from different countries, none of them Thai.

The Supreme Court last year found him guilty of abuse of auithority in the Ratchadapisek land deal case.

Opposition Puea Thai party MP Chalerm Yubamrung said last week he had travelled to Dubai for a three-day meeting with Thaksin.

They had spent so much money trying to find Mr. Thaksin, instead of taking care of crisis back home. Bangkok is like ghost town, and no investors coming to Thailand to invests. For the most important parts, what will happen to the people that currently stoving, and the farmers cannot sell their crops to so they can earns money for feed their kids. Its seem like all labors workers which gotten laid off from factories are without income to support their family. More and more crimes are on the risen, what will happen? Why no one worried about this? I don't think you can give education to stoving kids. Its hard to concentrated when your stomach is empty. Surely its will not hurt the rich, but the poor is getting poorer!

Thaksin has 6 different passports? Ask Interpol to check the following names:

    Jason Bourne
    David Webb
    John Kane
    Charles Briggs
    George Washburn
    Gilberto de Piento

Jason Bourne had a Thai wife and 2 children and was in Cambodia. It must be the same guy.

In which case I can tell you that he has recovered all his cash and passports from his numbered safety deposit box in Switzerland and is now heading for Paris in a battered old mini.
