Thailand and Malaysia have agreed to tighten their cooperation in some areas, including solving the insurgency problem in the South, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said on Monday after talks with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak.
Mr Abhisit said he and the Malaysian prime minister discussed a wide range of topics for cooperation. On the insurgency problem, the Malaysian government was satisfied with the Thai government's current line of action.
He said Thailand had also sought advice from Malaysia, which has been successful in using religious schools for occupational training.
He agreed to the Malaysian leader's suggestion that he visit schools for teaching Islam in the three troubled southern provinces this year, to convince them they had the government's support.
On trade and investment, Mr Abhisit said they agreed to cooperate more on energy and Halal food.
