Prachai must pay Leena B1.25m

The South Bangkok Civil Court on Tuesday ordered Prachai Leopairatna, former leader of the dissolved Matchimathipataya Party, to pay Leena Jangjanja 1.25 million baht compensation plus interest.

Mrs Leena filed a lawsuit against Mr Prachai demanding 1.25 million baht compensation for not fielding her as a Matichimathipataya candidate in the December 2007 general election in Bangkok's constituency 8 as promised. 

She said she had spent more than one million baht on campaign billboards and other expenses.

The court ordered Mr Prachai to pay Mrs Leena the compensation, at seven per cent interest, within 30 days.
