Puea Thai threatens to boycott House

The Puea Thai Party will not attend the special House session to debate on two pieces of legislation which are intended for the Finance Ministry to raise altogether 800 billion baht in loans if it is not telecast live, said the party's economic team leader Mingkwan Saengsuwan.

Mr Mingkwan said the party made this resolution to boycott the session because the two pieces of legislation have considerable effects on the Thai people and should be broadcast live on television.

Government chief whip Chinaworn Boonyakiat said earlier on Thursday that the June 15-16 debate on the executive decree on 400-billion baht loan and the bill to enable the Finance Ministry to seek another 400-billion-baht loan would be broadcast on Parliament Radio only, not on NBT television as requested by the opposition.  Only the June 17-18 debate on the 2010 budget bill would be broadcast live on NBT, he said.
