About 100 members of the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) gathered at the Royal Plaza on Wednesday morning to mark the 77th anniversary of the 1932 Revolution.
The gathering was led by Somyos Pruksakasemsuk, Charan Dithapichai and Puea Thai MP Sunai Jullapongsathorn.
They lit red candles and placed red roses around three words -- democracy, freedom, equality.
The red-shirt members dispersed peacefully afterwards. But they planned to gather again at Sanam Luang in the evening.
The June 24, 1932, coup was a bloodless transition of power in which the system of government in what was then Siam was changed from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy under a prime minister.
