Former army chief Gen Chaisit Shinawatra said on Wednesday that he disagreed with MP Chalerm Yubamrung and felt Yingluck Shinawatra, younger sister of former prime minister Thaksin, was too young to lead the opposition Puea Thai Party.
“It is not the right time for Yingluck to become leader of a political party as she is too young in politics”, Thaksin's elder cousin said.
He also had no idea whether the fugitive politician would feel the same way.
However Gen Sumeth Phomanee, a former classmate of Thaksin's working at the defence permanent secretary's office, said there is a possibility Ms Yingluck could become the leader of the Puea Thai Party.
He said she was already actively involved in the politics of the opposition camp.
Gen Sumet said Thaksin had not yet made decision on the matter as it was not urgent and there were several candidates suitable for the job of party leader
