Union threat to cut power to ministry

  • Online news:

About 20 members of the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) labour union went to the Finance Ministry on Wednesday to demand that the ministry play its outstanding electricity bill of 7.53 million baht, which fell due on May 31.

Head of the MEA labour union Pien Yongnu said his members would cut off the electricity supply to the ministry if it fails to pay the bill within seven days.

He  said  he was acting in the interests  of the MEA.

The union would also send representatives to other government agencies, all of which have failed to pay their bills. The total amount outstanding was 1.02 billion baht.

Mr Pien  said that the demand had nothing to do with the government's foot dragging on paying a 2,000-baht a month cost of living allowance to MEA staff.

It would seem that our Oxford educated PM must have missed the lecture on ' How to Pay Your Electric Bill 101 " What a sorry state of affairs.

Cut it off and leave it off until they pay up. They spent more than that on billboards and blue shirts for volunteer goons.
