PAD to defy police summons

People's Alliance for Democracy core members and their supporters plan to rally at the Police Club on Thursday when the 36 PAD leaders are due to report to police to hear criminal charges, including an act of terrorism, over the blockade of Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports from Nov 25 to Dec 4 last year, PAD lawyer Suwat Apaipak said on Wednesday.

But, the 36 PAD leaders would not report to police because they could not accept the unduly harsh and exaggerated charges against them, Mr Suwat said.

Mr Suwat said the PAD leaders would instead submit a letter objecting to the charges and asking police investigators to reconsider them.  If the charges were not reviewed, they would petition the Administrative Court.

Of the 36 people charged in connection with the airports blockade, only Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya has reported to police to acknowledge the charges.

Mr Kasit, however, had his lawyer Nitithorn Lamlua hand a petition to police chief Gen Patcharawat Wongsuwan on Tuesday asking that police drop the terrorism charges against him and the other accused. He said there was no evidence of a terrorist act being committed by them during the airport blockade.

According to the petition, Mr Kasit appeared on the PAD stage at Suvarnabhumi airport only once, on Nov 30, as a guest speake. There was no proof of him having committed an act of terrorism.

Also on Tuesday, the Criminal Court dismissed the PAD's lawsuit filed against Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban, and Pol Gen Patcharawat for allowing police to lay unsubstantiated terrorism charges against leading PAD members.

The dismissal was made on the grounds that  police had straightforwardly exercised their authority under the law.

It fits perfectly to Webster's definition:

    ter·ror·ism (těr'ə-rĭz'əm)
    n. The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.

Well...this IS the PAD...they refuse anything, anybody who does not do what they want. Then they demonstrate, refuse to follow the rules and the law and scream UNFAIR at the top of their lungs until the get what they want.

They only know force and do not understand democracy and the law. That is why they want to have 70% of government appointed and not voted in, because they can then try to make sure their people are appointed and they rule the country.

One day more people will wake up to this PAD sham and hopefully these thugs will get what they deserve...

I'm not a fan of death penalty. I'm not a fan of "act of terrosist" charge. But I'm a fan of "responsibility for action committed". I'm disappointed when PAD keep saying they did nothing wrong. It would be enough for me if PAD come out and say "Yes, we went too far and we are sorry that we did so much dammage to the Kingdom and so much pain to the inocent people".
If we want to see justice, both perpetrators and conspirators must be punished. The seizure of airports, not like 911 surprised the whole world, was preventable, but it happened and last for days without any measures taken. What charge should be put on law enforcement bodies? neglect, incapable, conspiracy...? too many people implicated!

So again they take the law into their own hands. Lock them all up and throw away the key!

This will show Thailand how strong the PM is or is going to as the PAD thugs believe cave into their demands and not back the police.

If the 36 PAD leaders carry out their threat to fail to answer their summons and report to police on Thursday, warrants should be served for their immediate arrest and imprisonment pending the hearing of the charges against them in court. That would be standard practice in other countries and I believe was the procedure followed by the police vis-a-vis the red shirt leaders after the Songram riots.

It is the arrogant and above the law PAD again.

Defying police summon, discrediting police, appeal, abusing the administrative court, protesting, demanding change to charges, defying police order, obstructing court officers from performing their duties. Carrying arms, defaming, inciting violent, fabricating stories, employed gangsters as guards, intimidating the public, demanding courts to pass sentence on their terms.

They plan to rally at the Police Club - good, arrest them immediately. The airport siege is already a criminal act right before the eyes of the whole world. You don't need an arrest warrant to arrest them. They should not be freed into the street because it has been proven again and again that they are violent and take law into their own hands.

Well done Abishit new government in arresting the UDD so fast and appointing PAD terrorists members to the government post !

This is a biggest joke as the current government still have not arrested the biggest terrorist and law breakers of the country, PAD !

Opps, i'm sorry , i forgot that the current government got it's current position from the help of PAD , well that makes it very clear to that the current government supports very much terrorist act that will take the whole contry to ransom..

It has been a very sad day for Thailand this last few years...God Bless Thailand ..
