  • Online news:

The red-shirts will hold a major rally at Sanam Luang on July 31 to announce an unofficial number of people who signed up a petition to seek a royal pardon for former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, said United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship leader Nathawut Saikua.

Mr Nathawut said the rally will be held from 3pm to midnight when an unofficial number of people supporting the petition will be announced.

After the July 31 rally the UDD will set up a committee to examine and verify the signatures before the petition is forwarded to His Majesty the King.  The UDD will not hold a rally or conduct any activity that is related to the petition after that, he said.

The UDD has vowed to have at least one million people sign up the petition.

Veera Musikapong, a UDD leader, said the Truth Today telelvision programme will soon return to go on air.  The programme will be broadcast on People Channel during 9.30pm - 10.30pm on Monday-Friday.  The "Red in the Land" television programme will also return on the same channel on Saturday and Sunday during 1pm-2pm, he said.  He did not tell the exact dates for these programmes to resume.
