Gen Prawit marks 64th birthday

Defence Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwon and members of the Wongsuwon family, including police chief Pol Gen Phatcharawat, on Tuesday morning made merit at Phra Sri Maha Thad temple in Bangkok on the occasion of his 64th birthday.
Among top brass attending the religious rite were army chief Gen Anupong Paojinda, army chief-of-staff Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha, and Army Region 1 commander Lt-Gen Kanit Saphithak.

Gen Prwait said he did not want anything special on his birthday but wished for a unity in the armed forces and in the country. He stressed that the armed forces were duty-bounded to protect the nation and the high institution.
Gen Anupong said he was glad to have a chance to work under the supervision of the defence minister. The army chief pledged to work for the benefit of Thai people and will protect the country, religion and the monarchy.
