UDD to rally against govt Aug 30

  • Online news:

The pro-Thaksin United front for Democracy against Dictatorship plans a mass anti-government demonstration on Sunday week, UDD core leader and Puea Thai party list MP Jatuporn Promphan said on Friday afternoon.

The red-shirts will gather at the Royal Plaza about 1pm on Aug 30 and after that UDD leaders will lead the crowd to Government House to call on Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to dissolve the House, Mr Jatuporn said.

“The premier has no leadership and the Democrat-led coalition government has failed in its efforts to tackle the pressing problems facing the country,” he said.

If Mr Abhisit does not  call a general election, the UDD would launch signature collecting campaign seeking his impeachment.

Sooo John and Anonymous...you dont like Democracy.......

Prefer the PAD/old paternalistic politics......you think that is the way forward.

I am for democracy and all pro-democracy forces in Thailand and one-person-one-vote electoral processes.

Not only is your appointive system dictatorial, it is hugely arrogant.

Thailand abolished slavery during the reign of King Rama V. We admire that greatly. But you Farang's would not know about that. Your lack of historical political perpsective make your political prognostications look very foolish.

    But we luv ya anyway.

I am becoming so bored with these people and their non-events for a non-person that i cant even be bothered to blog any more!! As it is a sunday why not spend QUALITY time with the family.

And why not do something for thailand and your fellow thais and not just one, (oh i forgot you think they ALL support the petition).

Sounds like even 'superobama' would find it tough going here given the conditions imposed by the red shirts. And stop calling them pro-democracy. Its only pro-democracy according to their rules and standards. And as they are unelected why do they think they have the right to speak for the people of Thailand? Let alone bring the country to its knees. Oh on the second point of course they can always blame some else cant they.

    Delusional!!

It’s stupid (as usual) for the red shirts to ask for new elections with the 2007 constitution.
As the pro-Thaksin have a long history of cheating the elections…
(2006 TRT fraud- Vote buying at the minister of defense, get caught under video camera)
(2006 TRT fraud- Modification of list of candidates. 3 pro-Thaksin election commissioners jailed)
    (2007 PPP, and “c.t.”, “m.t.”, frauds -vote buying…)
If only one of the executives member frauds, all the party has to be dissolved.
This law is harsh, for trying to eliminate the frauds.
Formers P.M. Samak and Somchai tried to abolish the 2007 constitution, to save the PPP but, in vain!

It would only be a matter of time until this happened.
The pro-democracy Red Shirts can be ignored only so long.
To expect an election in the near future given the manner in which the current Govt. rose to power is not unreasonable.
The pro-democracy red Shirts have been demanding new elections from their very inception, and have been totally ignored.
How long would one expect such dismissal to last, before something more coercive would occur.
Even providing a semi-firm date in the future would have been acceptable.
But to stonewall forever tempted a response which now is beginning to firm up.
