Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva will at 9.35am on Saturday leave for Surat Thani to preside over an opening ceremony of Tambon Tha Thong Mai office in the southern province’s Karnchanadit district.

At about 5pm, the premier will deliver an election campaign speech at the provincial hall to call for local people’s support for the Democrat candidate, Thani Thaugsuban, in the MP by-election late this month.

The elected MP will replace Deputy Prime Minister and an MP for Surat Thani Suthep Thaugsuban, Mr Thani’s elder brother, who had resigned as an MP after the Election Commission found he was guilty for holding shared of private firms prohibited by the charter.

Mr Abhisit will return to Bangkok at about 8.20pm.

If the PM leads the campaign and if the Democrat candidate does not win will the PM finally see the writing on the wall and call an election so the people of Thailand can decide who they want to run the country?
