Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva never said as heard from the controversial audio clip that was intended to make people believe that he ordered use of force to break up the red shirts during the Songkran riots, said army chief Anupong Paojinda in a press conference on Friday.

Gen Anupong said he wanted the public to base their judgement on facts, not something which had been fabricated.

"I can assure everyone that I was with him (Abhisit) all the time during that period and he never said anything like that.  I was told by reporters before coming to Government House that some people said it was the work of the military.  I can guarantee that the army has done everything in the interest of the country," he said.

Gen Anupong said when he travelled abroad and heard people talk negatively about he felt sorry for the Thai people.  "While our country has the potential to advance and combat the economic downturn, it is sad that we keep fighting each other," he said.

On the Aug 30 rally of the red shirts, the army chief said the people can rest assured that the government has made proper preparations to cope with the situation.  Police and soldiers will not use weapons in the security operation, he added.

"Never said AS heard". Hmm... Anapong never actually came out and said he did not say it. "He never said anything like that" - Well what did he say? This is another non denial denial.

This morning both Suthep and the PM said the clip was "edited" but later the PM said it was a clip "that sounded like him" It is either an clip of him talking or a fabricated clip of his voice, it can't be both.

Now I'm no fan of the PM but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He should just come clean and say it was an off hand comment during the heat of a confrontation but this denial by all and sundry and the finger pointing leads me to conclude that he probably got caught and is now trying to cover it up and deflect the heat.

I wonder if anyone has reflected for a moment what a sad picture that we as people portray?
Imagine yourself as a Martian who can look across Earth. In some places there is famine, yet in others over production. In some places riches beyond ones wildest dreams, yet in others grinding poverty. In some places great peace and tranquillity, yet in others unrelenting conflict. In some places religious harmony, yet in others killings in the name of religion, the books of which abhor the killing of a fellow man. In some places politics that are the saviour of that Country, yet others it is the very instrument that tears the very fabric of the Country and it's people apart.
We are a greedy, pathetic, inward looking breed whose main concern is self, which is epitomised by the current polarised situation in this lovely Country.

These people reek of lies and insincerity. "...it is sad that we keep fighting each other," so says the General. Its the military that help started this, instead of solving it through democratic mean they just had to sling out the guns and tanks and intimidation, and have the nerve to spew that out of their mouth.

The PM needs to bite the bullet, other then "el numero uno" who else would have the audacity to order use of force on their fellow citizens if not authorized. Especially in such a structured organization/ country, no way in hell you want to break the chain of command, unless you have a death wish.
    --here for somewhat "serious" matter.
Here's my top 2 list of why the PM might be guilty as accused:

    4) You live-up the Songkrah by adding more colors to the dull mix.
    3) During Songkrah, you use real guns instead of water guns.
    2) The shady military vouches for you.
    1) By having no qualm about greeting opposing views when they say "hello, we are here" by invoking ISA-so as to not intimidate.
