The country’s gross domestic product (GDP) expansion rate for 2009 is likely to contract between 2.8 to 3.6 per cent, the Research Department at the Bangkok Bank Plc said on Thursday.
The bank's project is that the GDP would return to a positive figure in the fourth quarter of the year and that the GDP for 2010 would expand between 2 to 4 per cent.
It said government investment would be a major economic driver for this year. Oil price fluctuations and recession in the global economy were the two main risk factors that could affect the country’s economic recovery.
